Minutes of October 18, 2008
The
meeting was called to order by President, Brady Crist.
Club
guests were welcomed, as well as, Ben Vaughn President of EGPA and Kathy Lovin,
Secretary/Treasurer of EGPA.
The
Secretaries and Treasurer’s reports were read and approved.
Announcements:
(1) Ice Breaker Expo-Will be held Feb. 20-21, 2009 in Milton. It was discussed
as to whether we would do it again this year. It takes several volunteers to man
the booth both days, so think seriously about the commitment before you answer.
We will take a vote at the November meeting. (2) Early Bird Sports Expo-will be
held at the Bloomsburg Fairgrounds a Friday, Saturday and Sunday in January,
2009. Discussion ensued. It was made known that we would need to make money on
this event, so we would need to get our non-profit status changed and it would
also be a much larger commitment. Further discussion will be held at the
November meeting.
Old
Business: (1) Club direction-Do we want to join the EGPA or remain with GPAA? Or
do we want to remain an independent club? Wayne
has changed our website so it does not contain GPAA any longer. The advisory
committee has met but there is no report at present.
EGPA President Ben Vaught and Sec./Treas. Kathy Lovin fielded questions
and gave information about the Club.
An overall view was given as to the plans EGPA has to open up eastern
states for prospecting. As well as, procedures they are using to obtain
permission for dredging. Currently they have approval in Virginia and have
applied in Pa. (2) Christmas raffle-the prizes have been obtained. There will be
a 10gm Australian nugget, a 6.5gm Australian nugget. A 2.1gm Australian nugget,
A 1/4oz Eagle gold coin and a 1/10 oz gold coin.
The raffles were held and the meeting was adjourned for the potluck.
Respectfully
submitted,
