Meeting Minutes -November 15, 2008

The meeting was called to order by President Brady Crist. Fifty six people were in attendance including Don Porell and Rick Atkins from the Eastern Gold Prospectors Association.

Due to the absence of the Secretary, no minutes were presented for approval. In the absence of the Treasurer, Brady reported that the treasury currently has a balance of $1,507.20.

Announcements: Jason Hess has a candle order form if you would like to order any candles for the holidays. Don and Sharon Beagle have their mineral specimens with them today.

Old Business:  The advisory committee still has no report regarding the joining of the EGPA.

After discussing our purpose in participating in the Ice Breaker Expo, it was decided that it was a good way to promote interest in the hobby of gold prospecting and that we would reserve two spaces. Fourteen people volunteered to help. The Ice Breaker will be held on Feb. 20-21, 2009.

Brady reminded us about our Christmas party on Dec. 20 here at the Lightstreet Church gymnasium. If you are helping with the preparations, please be there by 9 am. The party will begin at 10:30. Remember to bring your orange tickets. You must have attended three meetings from January 2008 through November 2008 to be eligible for the door prize drawings. If you are bringing a child, please let Linda know the age and sex so we can have a gift prepared. Also, please bring a small gift for your own child. There will be an optional $20.00 gift exchange, the store will be open and the roulette wheel will have bigger nuggets as prizes.

New Business:  There was a new logo shown for consideration and some discussion regarding getting hats and t-shirts. Since we haven’t made any decision yet regarding joining EGPA no action was taken.

Dave Cupina asked some questions regarding the EGPA claims in Virginia and Pennsylvania. Rick Atkins answered his questions and brought us up to date with information regarding the status of both claims.

We adjourned for our drawings and potluck.

Respectfully submitted,

Marie Ransom
