PA PROSPECTORS
Meeting Minutes
February 20, 2010
The meeting was called to order by the President Brady Crist.
The minutes were read and approved with the correction that not all of the properties in Centralia are State owned.
The treasurer’s report was given by Treasurer Bob Hettinger.
Old Business: We are updating our contact list. Please let us know where you could be reached with information regarding Club activities. We should have copies available for everyone at the May meeting.
The EGPA is now defunct and Wayne will be asked to remove references and links to the EGPA from our web site.
New Business: Brady asked for comments regarding whether our club should remain an independent club or join the GPTHA (Gold Prospectors and Treasurer Hunters of America), a new organization that has been formed. You must be an individual member of GPTHA to use their properties. However, you can belong to both clubs or other prospecting clubs. Brady provided index cards for anonymous comments for those that didn’t wish to comment publicly.
Comments/Concerns
Concern that GPTHA was not to be a social club; i.e. no non-paying members.
The loss of friendships with those who didn’t wish, or couldn’t afford to join
The cost of membership in GPTHA
GPTHA’s fee structure.
The overwhelming consensus was that at the present time we are not interested in making our club part of GPTHA.
One problem we do need to address is the lack of prospecting activities for our club.
Brady reminded us of the upcoming election of officers in May and urged folks to think what position they might like to fill.
The meeting was adjourned, followed by the raffles and potluck.
Respectively submitted,
Marie Ransom, Secretary Pro-Tem
