Minutes of August 16, 2008

The meeting was called to order by President, Brady Crist.

Announcements: Through the generosity of Paul Lindenmuth, laminated Fact sheets and Glacial Maps are available through the store for the price of $3.00 each. Also, Paul donated several items to be raffled off. Thank you Paul.

The Secretary’s and Treasurer’s Reports were read and approved.

Old Business:

(1) Do we want to become an Independent Gold Club or remain with GPAA?

Between now and the January meeting we need to develop a plan. There needs to be some discussion with the EGPA and a set of by-laws developed at the next meeting. It was also determined that we need to set up an Advisory Committee so we can see what direction the club wants to go. If this is ok with the Club, we will need an interim slate of officers until we decide.

Over the Labor Day weekend the EGPA is having an outing in the York area. Wayne Ordille and Dave Cupina are planning to attend. One of the areas they want to discuss with EGPA is if people need to be members to be officers.

The current Club’s officers recommend making the decision slowly and waiting until January/February 2009 for the final decision.

Anyone who wishes to remain a member of GPAA may do so. You can be a member of several organizations if you wish. It may be to your advantage to belong to two or more affiliations to increase your benefits. Brady does have applications to join EGPA if anyone is interested. Also we do not want to become adversarial to GPAA.

(2) Christmas raffles: The prizes we will be giving away this year will be gold nuggets and gold coins, as well as, other prizes. Also, please remember that you need to attend a minimum of three meetings to be eligible for the door prize drawing of the large nugget. The Christmas meeting does not count as one of the three meetings attended.

The September meeting will be back at the Montour-Delong Fairgrounds in Washingtonville and starting in October and for the winter months, the meetings will be at the Lightstreet United Methodist Church in Lightstreet, Pa.

The raffles were held and the meeting adjourned for the potluck.

Respectfully Submitted,

Linda Houseknecht-Secretary
